Cooking Together
Convenience is becoming an increasingly important criterion in cooking and baking, yet many people don't
want to give up their homemade favorites and don't want to cut corners with guests, either. There are ways to
incorporate time-saving ideas into your plans and still serve homemade, high quality foods.
Whether you streamline preparations, prepare make-ahead recipes, or jump-start dinner with convenience foods,
these are all terrific ways to avoid last minute "crunch-times" in the kitchen. To make your efforts even easier,
let cooking and conversation merge. Share the workload with friends and family by together assembling a multitude
of main dishes or appetizers within a few hours. Kept in your freezer, they are ready to be pulled at a moment's
notice for a quick family meal, or a warm welcome for guests.

Experience Cooking With Friends
Tapping into this need are a variety of businesses that enable people to cook together with ingredients provided
and certain prep work handled. These cooking adventures offer guidance and support to novice cooks who may be
uncomfortable in the kitchen and people leave with a week's worth of meals ready-to-heat. They're great for
busy families whose demanding schedules often require shortcuts in cooking time. They also bring seasoned
cooks the opportunity to try new recipes, new flavors and innovative ideas.
While local businesses are filling a need, it's just as fun to do it at home with a group of friends.
Create your own cooking adventure in your kitchen, sharing the cost, and let guests take home their creations.
While you'll spend more time on shopping and preparations like washing and chopping, you'll save money and enjoy
the experience with friends. Guests can help with clean-up too.
Make-and-Take Appetizer Party
In the holiday season or anytime of year, we suggest you host your own make-and-take appetizer party with friends.
Send invitations to" Come Make Appetizers" and then each person can take home a dozen of each appetizer made.
Sharing the work of creating appetizers, for enjoying and entertaining later, is the perfect answer to today's
time dilemma. Be ready to serve an assortment of mouthwatering appetizers in just a few minutes notice and enjoy the delight of easy entertaining.
Tips & How To's:
Hosting a party takes a little prep work, but once friends arrive to make appetizers -- the pressure is off!
- Determine the number of cooks who will be coming and what type and how many appetizer recipes you'd like to prepare.
The recipes here work well for 5 (including the hostess). Cooks need not be seasoned, just be willing to learn and have fun!
- Inform guests what recipes are being prepared
(send them copies of the recipes), how many appetizers they will make and the approximate cost per person.
- Determine which recipes will require you to prepare some ingredients ahead of time
so cooks can assemble the recipe at the party.
- Tell cooks they should bring their own plastic freezer food containers
(or freezer bags) and a cooler to transport food home.
- Prepare labels for each recipe and guest.
Include the recipe name, date and reheating instructions.
- Plan about 2 hours for cooking and conversation.
Check out our selection of appetizer recipes. All of the recipes can be made-ahead and they freeze well.
Use these recipes for holiday open houses, impromptu entertaining, late evening nibbling or anytime.
It's so simple, just take them from the freezer and reheat at a minute's notice.
